Between portable battery systems and battery containers
For work along railway lines, on construction sites, in city centres or during film productions, generators are still often used to provide power. At the same time, more and more heavy-duty machinery is becoming electric, increasing the demand for power on site. Particularly in urban areas, organisations also need to take requirements regarding noise and local emissions into account.
Available battery solutions do not always fit these practical requirements. Portable battery systems are easy to transport but often do not provide enough power for heavier machinery and installations. Large battery containers offer substantial energy capacity but generally require heavy equipment for transport and positioning, as well as specialist knowledge for commissioning.
The Wattsun Ventus 12K bridges the gap between these two product categories. The system combines 12 kW of continuous power with 20 kWh of battery capacity in a mobile enclosure that users can easily deploy on site themselves. “With customers such as Van Gelder and VolkerWessels, we are seeing demand for electric working increase rapidly,” says Wattsun founder Koen Olieslagers. “Their requirement is very practical: three-phase power that can be deployed easily and exactly where the work takes place. That need was the starting point for the development of the Ventus 12K. The power supply should adapt to the work, not the other way around.”
Three-phase power wherever the work takes place
The Ventus 12K is designed to move with the work. The system can be rolled the final metres to the work area, moved with a forklift or lifted using the integrated lifting eyes. Its robust IP65 enclosure protects the system against dust and water, making it suitable for outdoor use and demanding working conditions.
Commissioning has also been kept simple. Once connected, the Ventus 12K is ready for use at the push of a button, without the need for complex installation on site. This allows users to move, connect and deploy the system themselves wherever power is needed.
From 230V mains power to 400V three-phase power
The Ventus 12K can be used independently as a power source, but can also work alongside the energy infrastructure already available on site. The system can be charged via 230V, 400V, solar panels or a generator and automatically switches between the available energy sources. No manual switching is required.
When only a standard 230V connection is available on site, the Ventus can be charged from this connection and supply 400V three-phase power from its battery. This means that even a limited grid connection can be used to power machinery and installations with higher power requirements.
A generator can also be connected to recharge the battery when required. As a result, the generator does not need to run continuously, reducing noise and local emissions at the work site. Meanwhile, the Ventus uses the available energy sources to maintain a reliable power supply to machinery and installations.
Expandable for longer operating times
The required battery capacity varies depending on the application and working day. For additional energy capacity and longer operating times, multiple Ventus 12K systems can therefore be connected together. This allows the power supply to be tailored to the location, connected equipment and required operating time.
This makes the Ventus 12K suitable for applications including construction pumps, welding equipment, aerial work platforms, lifts, lighting and sound systems, film productions, temporary command posts and other professional applications requiring reliable 230V mains power or 400V three-phase power.
Developed and assembled in Arnhem
The Ventus 12K is developed and assembled at Wattsun in Arnhem. It builds on ten years of experience with mobile battery systems for professional use, combined with practical experience from customers and partners in the sectors where our systems are used every day.
With the Ventus 12K, we are expanding our product range from compact, portable battery systems to mobile three-phase power for heavier professional applications. This is how we make reliable power available to every professional. Wherever they need it.
