Tip 1. Always use the original charger
A socket is a socket and a cable is a cable, right? Not quite. Charging your equipment may seem simple, but the charger you use makes a big difference. Using the original charger is essential for safety, performance, and the lifespan of your device. Original chargers deliver the correct voltage and current, prevent overheating, and protect the battery from premature wear. Cheap or universal chargers can cause slower charging times, malfunctions, or even damage, which can void the warranty and reduce reliability. By always using the correct charger, you avoid unexpected issues and ensure your device continues to perform safely and effectively.
Tip 2. Avoid charging to 100% or discharging to 0%
It may sound strange, but it is better not to fully charge your battery. If you don’t need the full capacity for your task, it’s better to charge the battery to around 80–90%. A fully charged battery can lose capacity over time, reducing its lifespan. By not charging it all the way to 100%, you preserve the battery’s health for longer. The same goes for fully discharging your battery. Of course, there may be times when you need every last percent, but for optimal condition we recommend recharging at 20%.
Tip 3. Store the battery at about 30% capacity
All electronic devices use a small amount of power internally, even when not in use. If the battery drains completely, the system might no longer turn on. For the battery’s health, it’s best to keep the charge level between 20% and 80%. This avoids unnecessary strain, since charging from 0% or discharging from 100% generates extra heat. And heat is the biggest stress factor for a battery. The less strain, the longer it will last.
Tip 4. Charge and store your Wattsun on a solid, well-ventilated surface, away from direct sunlight and frost
Just like in tip 3, the goal is to avoid unnecessary stress on the battery. The casing of our battery systems is designed to reflect sunlight and prevent the system from heating up unnecessarily. This ensures our products can be charged, discharged, and stored safely across a wide temperature range. For details, check the manual of your specific product.
Tip 5. Do not charge or store a damaged battery
Our products are built to withstand a lot. However, if you notice damage that exposes internal components, or if the system no longer functions normally after being dropped, do not charge it. Instead, contact our Service & Support team. We have the right facilities to advise you, inspect your products, and, if necessary, replace parts quickly.
Bonus tip: read the manual
Alongside these tips, it never hurts to check the manual. It contains everything you need to know to get the best out of your Wattsun product.
